Photoshoot

Well, our first campervan is complete!  Well, I say complete, we still plan a strip down, shakedown and documentation process that is more typical of a car manufacturer than a bodybuilder - but it lets us get a photoshoot out of the way!

Robert and I took the finished vehicle to a car park in the Yorkshire Dales and went snap happy - we've ended up with some great images of the finished van.  Some of which can be seen in our gallery.

As vehicle designers, we like to compare our 'concept' images to the final finished article; to us it's a measure of our skill as designers. So here are two images - one of the computer generated image of the design and one of the actual finished vehicle - we're pleased that we met our objectives and possibly even exceeded them a little!

We have some final certification to do on this van and then it will be available for sale via this website.

Glazing Time

The first set of windows have been installed in our prototype camper van.

We've used Kiravans for our windows as their windows have a limousine tint in the glass and the windows are shaped properly for the double curvature of the rear doors.

Normally, the roof would be fitted before the glazing, but to avoid delay we'll be fitting the roof afterwards at Drivelodge who are accustomed to fitting their roofs when the van's nearly complete.  Why did we select Drivelodge?  Watch this blog to find out why you really should consider their roof for your van - it could just save your life!

Wiring Looms and Electrical Quality

Ever thought about the wiring in a camper van?  We have.  This is the looms going into our first camper.  Note that we use harnessflex throughout and don't just pass exposed wires through the bodywork.  It takes longer and costs more, but electrical faults in campers are a nightmare to repair so we think it's worth doing it right first time!

Once it's all in there's quite a few connections to be made - it looks untidy - but it will all be hidden away when complete.

We've taken delivery of the keys to our new factory here in Skipton.  We have facilities to build up to 4 campers a week from here and we'll be bringing things like our furniture CNC cutting in house too.

We'll also be doing some design work and trial production processes over the next few weeks.  We'll keep you posted on this as we progress.
