WHY CHOOSE THISTLE ROSE?
Any Company is only as good as its people
We like to think we have some of the friendliest, most knowledgeable, talented and accommodating people in our sector here at Thistle Rose. Every one of us takes pride in what we do and get a great deal of satisfaction when we turn our customers dreams into reality.
Read on to find out about some of the people involved. If you want to know what goes into a Thistle Rose conversion, read our 'Build' page and 'Our suppliers' to see the TLC we put into your conversions.
The first interaction you have as a Thistle Rose customer is usually with Julie or Peter, who will happily talk you through how we can configure and build a campervan that's just right for you.
Your dealings with Thistle Rose won't start with a hard sell; we won't sell you a product we want to build, we build you a camper that you want to buy - our product starts with you.
We encourage our customers to join us for a chat - and a cuppa - to explore whether a camper van is for you and if it is; just what that camper van will look like.
So why not give us a call to discuss how we can help you with your camper van dream.
This small family company converted our Transit Custom van that I have just travelled around Scandinavia in for the past four months. What an excellent job they did, paying attention to those little details that I asked for and completing a top quality job. I don’t usually write reviews but these guys really deserve a mention. – John
A fantastic company for bespoke high quality camper van conversions. Peter knows everything you can know about converting vans. He guided us through the decision making process explaining all the pros and cons (very patiently I might add!) and we ended up with a high quality van conversion with exactly the spec we wanted. After sales care was also excellent. Would highly recommend. – Rachel
First class makes dreams come true with the conversions, blew my mind with how they transformed my van. Left a basic white van with them and picked up a beautiful bespoke camper-van. Everything I asked for was included and more, there was a constant dialogue with any changes etc i cannot recommend Thistle Rose enough am going to be grinning for ear to ear for the next few years in my van. - Chris
found them to be quick and friendly. – Steve
They converted our van in April and couldn’t be happier. Nothing is too much trouble and their knowledge is second to none. Thank you Julie and Peter. – Chris
Great place and quality conversions. Very knowledgeable and attention to detail on every camper. – Shane
OVER 100 YEARS OF AUTOMOTIVE DESIGN EXPERIENCE
At Thistle Rose Leisure, we are qualified, professional automotive engineers with a pedigree in design for many of Europe's main converters. Our staff have worked for household names such as Mercedes-Benz and Volvo in design, vehicle conversion, consultancy and compliance. Our owner, Peter Occardi has worked on European working groups as a national representative for vehicle safety standards in emergency vehicles, where lives depend on the quality of the engineering.
We bring this knowledge pool and mindset on safety and quality to our camper conversions.
Alongside our knowledge of engineering, design, compliance and vehicle conversion we also know what makes a camper van great. From build quality and layout to fittings and equipment, we understand the details that make camper vans part of the family and help us get the very best from our leisure time. As well as being professionals in the field of automotive design, we are also campers - and therefore experienced in fields of a completely different type (usually muddy!).
Our Range of Conversions
We believe that a good camper is a safe camper. We apply our nearly 100 years of accumulated knowledge and experience from major automotive manufacturers to ensure the same attention to safety and quality in everything we do.
A campervan is different from any other living accommodation. Our vehicle knowledge means that the electrical installation, heating installation and gas installations all meet safety regulations, ensuring that you can 'sleep easy' at night in your camper. You can also relax knowing that your vehicle safety has not been compromised in the unfortunate event of an accident, and that your camper van meets the requirements for cover with most UK insurers.
So, who will build your campervan?
Your first contact will likely be with either Julie or Peter, but here we introduce the whole team for you to get to know.
Julie is the go-to-girl when you want things organised, with knowledge and experience of training Kaizen and 6 Sigma, Julie is much more than appears on the surface. Julie has years of experience in customer service and also brings knowledge of production principles, databases and compliance to our working team. As a permanent ray of light, Julie is always approachable for our customers - old and new - and is the perfect friendly guide when you start your campervan journey.
Peter has worked on European working groups as a national representative for vehicle safety standards in emergency vehicles, where lives depend on the quality of the engineering. Peter is a qualified automotive engineer and has worked for household names like Mercedes-Benz and Volvo in design, special vehicle conversions, consultancy and compliance. Peter brings all this knowledge and experience into what we do when we build a camper van.
Brian started out his career as an apprentice mechanic. He then moved into fibreglass production, but his flair for development soon led him to a career as a master pattern maker. Brian's work ventured into special vehicles over 20 years ago and since then he's been involved in prototyping and developing buses, ambulances and of course now campervans. Brian has now worked with Peter in 3 different companies. Brian makes the journey every day from Leeds to Skipton as he enjoys his work so much. We think it's just an excuse for a longer run on his motorbike in the summer.
Jordon is our young padawan (apologies to non-Sci-Fi-fans). Jordon is in his second year of his apprenticeship with Thistle Rose and Keighley College. Jordon is picking up skills and is now cutting and lining the vehicles under supervision as well as constructing the furniture as he learned last year. Jordon has just passed his driving test and has picked up his first car which is his pride and joy.
The last member of the team is Arnie. Arnie is a little different to the rest of the team but on a good day he can work harder than the rest of the team put together. Arnie is a 6 axis 2.9m reach robotic arm which is used to CNC cut furniture, floors and interior lining panels. Arnie is capable of much more and is the only memeber of the team who can double up as a sculptor (although as an artist Julie might be up to it if we asked!). And no, Arnie doesn't have a connection to the internet - we all know how Skynet started...
